Artist's Description

This painting was unveiled on July 7th and was a gift to retired General Ed Hall in appreciation for all that he has done for the Spartanburg Community. Ed was recently elected as the Commander of American Legion Post No. 28. Those guys are doing some really great things with the youth baseball team, sponsoring Boy’s State, Youth Scholarships, etc. Take a look at their website at www.spartanburgscpost28.org.

Ed just finished a book on the Spartanburg Memorial Airport. This is a wonderful history of the downtown airport and I was fortunate enough to do the cover design for the book. In the book is a small photo of Ed sitting in an old Bleriot flying machine. That photo gave me the idea for the painting which shows Ed flying along and spotting a goose flying next to his airplane. The goose is shown upside down (or is Ed upside down?) and he’s pulled up his goggles to get a better look. Just a little humor  . . .
